My first mod: Mac Plus G4

Ok, so I had an old Mac Plus case lying around. I had decided I would use it for something cool, but couldn’t actually decide what to do with it.

Until it came to me…I also had a Mac mini G4.

So, some hours (and patience) later…

It’s running Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 on a 1.25 Ghz PowerPC G4. 1 GB RAM and a 40GB drive.

I’d like to find an Airport card I can stuff into it, and fix some details. But I need parts I don’t currently have, so it will take some more time.

Materials used:

- Mac Plus case (just the case)

- New 9” SVGA B&W display

- Mac mini G4

- Sandpaper

- Saw

- Dremel

- Hot glue gun

- Several screws and screwdrivers!

- Wires (to take the power button to the front)

- Again…patience.

Next steps:

- Add a Superdrive (I had to take it out because of space and because I didn’t have a cable to take it to the front)

- Add original keyboard & mouse (I’m still trying to get my hands on these! If anyone can spare a couple, let me know :D)

- Make a new inner case for the Mac mini

- Plug the display to the VGA card directly (right now the VGA cable goes out and is plugged into the DVI port of the mini with an adapter)

- Use just 1 power cable for both the Mac and the display (there’s 1 for each at the moment)

I’ve shot some videos, but will reshoot them because I was so sleepy and tired that I didn’t realize I was shooting them vertically :P
